Jane's Open Source Intelligence Training (OSINT)

Transform open-source information into actionable intelligence

The Jane's consulting team from IHS Markit delivers workshops that provide defense and security professionals with the latest Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) methods and techniques. The courses, which are both theoretically and practically valuable, enable trainees to go back to their desks and make an immediate impact on their organizations.

We offer two types of training solutions: Courses and programs customized for organizations as well as open registration training workshops that appeal to a wide variety of participants.

Customized training solutions

We work with a range of client organizations to optimize the OSINT skills and abilities of their staff. We design and base our programs on an initial training needs analysis and can provide a progressive sequence of courses and post-training review sessions to ensure that organizations and analysts derive the maximum benefit.

Open registration training solutions

We hold a regular series of open registration OSINT training workshops in our offices. We design these workshops to provide defense and security professionals with essential practical skills to transform open-source and social media information into intelligence.

Jane's OSINT Training will teach you methods and techniques to:

  • Analyze and deconstruct intelligence tasks, frame research requirements and focus on collection activities
  • Use effective methods to collect, collate and process open-source information
  • Understand the dynamic social media landscape and incorporate insights into a multi-source intelligence assessment
  • Monitor and analyze social media effectively while understanding its uses and limitations
  • Conduct source and content analysis, helping to challenge assumptions and create more rigorous reports
  • Examine the data available from different angles and perspectives to reduce ambiguity
  • Communicate open-source intelligence assessments clearly
  • Conduct safe and optimized searching of online sources
