He brings more than 30 years of experience in the upstream E&P business, including exploration geology and geophysics at Chevron and 20 years with IHS working with U.S. upstream energy information. Mr. Smith has detailed knowledge of which drilling, completion, and production reports are to be filed with U.S. regulatory agencies and how IHS transforms that information to support the decision-making process. He worked on the Professional Petroleum Data Management Association’s 2013 project to create new rules for well identification and API well numbering.
