Senior Research Analyst – Upstream Research, IHS Markit
Mr. Thomas Parambil Jacob is a senior research analyst and
consultant in the Upstream Research group at IHS Markit.
Mr. Jacob serves as lead analyst on ProppantIQ, IHS Markit's
quarterly market intelligence product that provides analysis,
insights and forecasts for proppant demand, supply, pricing and
logistics in the US & Canada. In addition, he contributes to
several other IHS Markit products and services, including WellIQ
and PumpingIQ. Mr. Jacob has presented IHS Markit proppant research
at various client sites. He plays a vital role in forecasting
drilling and completions (D&C) activity in the US, identifying
trends in stimulation chemicals and the proppant market. He is
responsible for managing FracDB, IHS Markit's proprietary database
of US and Canadian wells, which contains data for over 120,000
wells and over 4 million constituent records including information
on those engaging in hydraulic fracturing and using frac chemistry.
Mr. Jacob also leverages his knowledge of the unconventional oil
and gas industry to assist on several consulting engagements.
Examples of his work in this role include carrying out an
operational due diligence study on behalf of a secured lender on a
sand mine; working for a large chemicals company conducting a
market study on "energized fracs" conducting a comprehensive market
study for a major proppant provider by developing robust oil price
scenarios and modelling the potential impact of oil prices on
D&C activity and proppant demand. Mr. Jacob holds a Master of
Science in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering from The
University of Texas at Austin, US, and a Bachelor's degree in
Mechanical Engineering from VIT University in India.
