As head of the Tax Solutions business, Mr. Daftary advises global financial institutions and multinational corporations about managing and monitoring their compliance obligations. He has extensive experience with withholding and reporting rules for US and non-US persons (QI and FATCA), as well as the Common Reporting Standard (CRS) under the United States tax code. As part of his academic and private practice, he has lectured and published extensively on the topics of anti-money laundering, the European Savings Directive, international withholding and reporting, tax technology and e-commerce. Mr. Daftary coauthored three editions of the E-Business Legal Handbook. He has taught courses on internet legal issues, including cyberlaw, taxation and e-commerce as an adjunct professor for Suffolk University School of Law, Northeastern University’s Master of Taxation program and Suffolk University’s Frank Sawyer School of Business, Boston, Massachusetts, US. He joined the company during the CTI acquisition in 2014. Previously, he was a Partner at Burt, Staples & Maner, LLP, and PricewaterhouseCoopers. He has served as a member and chairman of the IRS Electronic Tax Administration Advisory Committee (ETAAC). Mr. Daftary earned his doctorate in law from the University of Dayton, School of Law, Dayton, Ohio, US, and an LL.M. in Taxation from the Temple University Beasley School of Law, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, US.
