Executive Director – US and Global Economics, IHS Markit
Dr. Christopher is executive director of US and Global Economics at IHS Markit.
He is responsible for consumer-driven aspects of the US and Global economy where he tracks and forecasts US personal consumption expenditures, retail sales and consumer confidence indices. In addition, he directs and provides leadership for the US & Global Consumer Markets services, which provides income distribution, detailed consumer expenditures and demographic analysis and forecasts for over 100 countries. Dr. Christopher has over 20 years of professional experience as an economist and econometrician. Prior to joining IHS, now IHS Markit, he worked for FedEx Forecasting Department, O.I.T., Regional Economic Models Inc. (REMI), New York Legislative Tax Study Commission and several colleges. Dr. Christopher has taught various undergraduate and graduate courses in economics and business. He is often interviewed on consumer related matters by the US and European media (TV, Cable, Print, Web). In addition, he writes a quarterly column for CSCMP’s Supply Chain Quarterly, has several academic publications, and has written perspective pieces for the mass media. Dr. Christopher has a Doctor of Philosophy in Economics with concentrations in Game Theory, Econometrics, Industrial Organization, and Computable General Equilibrium Models from the University at Albany, New York, US.
