Richard Evans is responsible for the delivery of intelligence support and consultancy services to a range of military, government and law enforcement organisations. He has a particular focus on political Islamist and Islamist extremist movements, extremist ideology and discourse, radicalisation and mobilisation, and the use of strategic communication to counter violent extremism. Richard first joined IHS Markit (then Jane's) in 2000, and was responsible for establishing the organisation's first dedicated Terrorism and Insurgency desk. He then spent several years away from the organisation, providing specialist training and intelligence support to public sector organisations on Islamist extremism and activism, before returning in January 2013. Richard holds a Senior Non-Resident Fellowship in Strategic Communication at the Centre on Global Counterterrorism Cooperation, a counterterrorism 'think- and-do tank' based in Washington, DC.
