Pierre Goffinet has served first as a Marketing Director and International Affairs Director for Global Trade Information Services, Inc. (GTIS), now part of the Maritime & Trade division of IHS Markit.
He was in charge of the Geneva office and handling market development for Europe, the Middle East, South East Asia and African countries. In addition, he has worked closely with a number of specific governments, such as the Vietnamese, and Indian as well as the French and Italian Governments.
GTIS was assisting its international clientele in understanding the global marketplace and in providing a different and better approach to using trade data. It provided the official trade data of over 85 countries to subscribers around the world. These subscribers included the national and state governments of major trading countries, multinational companies and their business association, universities and libraries, ports, law firms, commodity brokers and many others.
Since 2014 and the acquisition of GTIS by IHS, Mr. Goffinet has been part of the Maritime & Trade sales team as Director of Sales and is since December 2015 Head of Global Trade for the EMEA region. His role is to present and implement the new IHS vision on trade information based on the existing solutions portfolio which generated from the acquisition for JOC group and GTIS.
Before joining GTIS, Mr. Goffinet headed his own business called FranSnack S.A. which he created to produce snack food for the major retailers in France and Belgium. His company was subsequently bought by a major agri-business group.
In addition, Mr. Goffinet has honed his expertise as an International Trade Analyst in interpreting and analyzing trade data flows for businessmen and governments around the world.
Kai is helping clients in the wider shipping, ship finance and supply chain industry to use industry specific data sets to improve their decision making. He has been in the shipping industry since 2004, working for subsidiaries of Reederei F. Laeisz/M.M. Warburg & CO in Hamburg and V.Ships/KG Allgemeine Leasing in Copenhagen where he was involved in ship finance and commercial and technical vessel management. He was working in sales and structuring of KG, KS and alternative financing models as well as in the implementation of a trading platform for secondary KG shares. With ICAP plc, London and HSH Nordbank AG, Hamburg he was developing benchmarks and risk management tools for the container industry. His professional career started with Dresdner Bank in 1996. In 1998, he joined DAB Bank in Munich to help in marketing Germany's first online broker. In 2001, he got involved in Bayerische Landesbank’s International Real Estate business. In 2003, he consulted Finland Post Group in e-business solutions for the financial industry in Germany. He was awarded his degree in General Economics from a private business school in Munich with distinction of the Bavarian Government and acts as a guest lecturer at Hamburg School of Business Administration and Frankfurt School of Finance and Management.
