Thea Fourie is a Senior Economist at IHS Economics and Country Risk, based in the company's South African office. She is responsible for analysing and forecasting economic developments in Angola, Comoros, Mozambique, Madagascar, Namibia, South Africa, Reunion, and Zambia. She is also responsible for sovereign risk analysis and the day-to-day economic coverage of these economies. Prior to joining IHS, Fourie was a financial economist at ING Barings, BOE NatWest Securities, and ABSA Bank, specializing in macro and financial economic analysis of the South African economy. Her expertise also includes macro-econometric modelling and macro-economic analysis. Fourie holds a B.Econ (Hons.) degree from the University of Pretoria and is fluent in both Afrikaans and English. With more than 20 years of experience in the financial and consulting industry, she is an expert in analyzing strategically important economies in the sub-Saharan region.
Anton Casteleijn is a Senior Economist in IHS Country Intelligence Group, based in the company's South African office. He is responsible for macroeconomic analysis of strategically important economies in key West African countries including Cote d’Ivoire and Senegal. He is also responsible for sovereign risk analysis and the day-to-day economic coverage of these economies. Prior to joining IHS he worked at the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) from 1987 to 2013 after completing 14 years of service at Statistics South Africa as a national accounts economist. During this period he worked in the SARB’s national accounts, capital market, business cycle analysis and monetary policy research divisions. He holds a BCom (Hons) degree and completed the IMF’s Economic Analysis Techniques course (Washington), the central banking manager’s program (UP/Gibs Business School, Johannesburg) and the ECB’s program for central bankers (Frankfurt). He was a co-compiler of the SARB’s bi-annual Monetary Policy Review and has completed research on aspects of South Africa’s derivative market and on inflation targeting.
Archbold Macheka is an economist in IHS IHS Country Intelligence Group and is based in the company's South African office. He is responsible for analysing and forecasting economic developments in Cameroon, Botswana, Gabon, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Congo, Equatorial Guinea and São Tomé and Príncipe. He is also responsible for sovereign risk analysis and the day-to-day economic coverage of these economies. Archie has worked in the socio-economic field for 8 years. Previously, he worked as a research economist at Underhill Corporate Solution in Pretoria where he worked on sector skills planning, monitoring & evaluation and socio-economic impact assessment projects for both public and private organizations. Archie holds an MSc in Economics.
