An experienced oil and gas professional, with more than 15 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, nine of which based in Singapore. As a Sales Director, James is responsible for the day to day management and technical sales support for the sales teams covering China, India, Malaysia and Thailand. James is also a Strategic Account Manager, responsible for managing and growing two of the largest IHS Energy accounts in Asia Pacific.
In his fifteen years with IHS, James has held a variety of leadership positions; these include building Customer Care Groups in Europe and the Asia Pacific, to support wide range industry standard databases, insight retainer services and software products. He also managed the Asia Pacific Customer Care Team for six years, who provided technical pre and post-sales support to over 2,000 clients in 13 countries in the Asia Pacific region, including Australia, China, Indonesia, India, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.
James was also seconded to work onsite at a major upstream oil and gas organization for 3 years, helping the international new ventures and basin studies group, assisting with the day-to-day prospect identification and analysis processes.
Suraya is the Regional Manager for the South East upstream content team and has 12 years of oil and gas industry experience. Prior to joining IHS in 2010, she worked for five years with Shell as a Geophysicist handling well-site operations, field development and near-field exploration for the Sarawak gas team, and appraisal and unitization projects in the deep-water Sabah area. She also worked for three years with WesternGeco working on seismic acquisition and processing.
Suraya is an active member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and South East Asia Petroleum Exploration Society. She was part of the organizing committee for the AAPG International Conference and Exhibition Singapore 2012. Suraya holds an MSc in Petroleum Geoscience from the University of Brunei Darussalam.
Najib is currently leading the business development of international exploration and production data and asset valuation application for Asia Pacific region. His previous role within the project management team at PETRONAS oversaw involvement in HPHT, marginal and deep water projects in Malaysia. During this time, he managed project costs, scheduled reviews and evaluations, executed project control and monitoring during conceptual/FEED stage and pre-feasibility as well as concept select studies.
Before PETRONAS, he was a Project Engineer at Sapura Kencana Energy developing marginal and high H2S gas fields offshore Sarawak responsible for project cost and schedule developments, facilities design and definition and overall project control and monitoring.
He graduated in Mechanical Engineering (MEng) from University of Southampton, United Kingdom.
Edward Liew has worked closed to 20 years in the upstream energy industry. He started his career as a Data Processing Geophysicist for WesternGeco, working on seismic acquisition and processing for the field. After a few years working offshore, he joined Schlumberger Information Solutions, to support and manage a team of application support geoscientists. He joined IHS in 2012 initially as a Senior Solutions Advisor before moving to his current role as Regional Support Team Manager. Throughout his career with IHS, he has involved primarily with supporting Petronas as well as other clients in the Asia pacific region. His involvement with Petronas covers various departments, from strategy to basin studies. Edward has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Geophysicist degree from the University Science of Malaysia.
