Alejandra Leon

Alejandra León, Director, IHS Energy, specializes in the Latin America refined products and oil and gas upstream analysis, with particular focus on market fundamentals, economics, and regulation. An expert in international trade and industrial policy, she is a regular contributor to the IHS Energy Latin America Upstream service. She evaluates crude and refined product price policy and trends in Latin America countries regarding fiscal revenue, investment opportunities, and policy changes. Ms. León contributed to the scenario storylines for Latin America oil and refined products markets for the IHS Global Energy scenarios to 2040 including an integrated political-economic-energy analysis. She has evaluated diverse upstream projects for economic viability, included deepwater Gulf of Mexico development, gas opportunities in Brazil’s Parnaiba Basin, and Venezuelan extra-heavy oil, among others. She also collaborated in country-specific oil and gas production outlooks including necessary capital investments and transportation infrastructure. Recently, Ms. León has participated on the evaluation of emerging upstream opportunities in Mexico, including geological evaluation, terms and conditions of the contracts, regulation, project’s economics, and above ground risks. Before joining IHS Ms. León collaborated on various studies in the public and private sectors in Mexico and developed particular expertise in economic, social, and statistical analysis. Ms. León holds a degree from the National University of Mexico.

David Crisostomo

Associate Director, Gas, Coal and Renewables, IHS Markit

David Crisostomo is an Associate Director within the Latin American Power, Gas, Coal and Renewables team in IHS Markit who currently focuses on the Mexican gas and power sectors. His research and analysis include gas and electricity market fundamentals modelling, regulatory framework analysis and implications in business opportunities. He has participated in different assignments across Latin America which include distributed power potential in Mexico and Latin America, power generation and transmission opportunities, asset valuations, and the analysis of operational and investment strategies for utilities, financial institutions and other market participants.

Before joining IHS Markit in 2011, Mr. Crisostomo worked for Iberdrola Spain as a power generation analyst and also worked in ABB in the power product business unit with heavy focus on the US and Mexico markets. Mr. Crisostomo holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, an MSc in Engineering and Policy Analysis from the Delft University of Technology, and Master of the Electric Power Industry from the Universidad Pontificia Comillas in Madrid.

Emanuel Simon

Associate Director, Latin America Power, Gas, Coal and Renewables, IHS Markit

Emanuel Simon, Associate Director, Latin America, Energy at IHS Markit focuses on cost, technology, and power policies for Latin America. Prior to joining IHS Markit, he was with Siemens (Chemtech), where he was involved in conceptual and detailed engineering design for projects in the oil and gas industry, energy efficiency, electrical power quality for industrial facilities, and risk analysis for the downstream sector. Mr. Simon also held a post as business developer engineer responsible for business strategies in the downstream and power sector. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Federal University of Santa Catarina, did his postgraduate studies in engineering at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), and holds an MSc from UFRJ.

Dan Bendig

Director, IHS Markit, Consulting

Daniel J. Bendig, IHS Markit Consulting Director is an expert in international exploration and project management. Mr. Bendig has worked extensively in asset appraisals, bid round evaluations, unconventionals and portfolio evaluations.

Prior to joining IHS Markit, Mr. Bendig held the posts of Vice President of exploration, Chief Geophysicist of a major oil company in the North Sea and Senior Geophysicist with a number of companies, including CONOCO, Inc. Total experience exceeds 36 years. He is a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, the Society of Independent Professional Earth Scientists, the Houston Geological Society and the Houston Geophysical Society.

Mr. Bendig holds a BS from The Ohio State University (Physics), an MA from the State University of New York (Geology) and an MSc from the University of London (Stratigraphy).
