Mr. Damian Chan was appointed Executive Director of the Energy & Chemicals Cluster in July, 2015. In that capacity, he leads the development of an industry that accounts for more than a third of Singapore’s manufacturing output. Previously, between 2011 till June 2015, as International Director for Americas, he led EDB’s operations across North and South America, working closely with global companies here to help them succeed in Asia via Singapore. Prior to that, he was the Director of Electronics Cluster in EDB. He was also the Centre Director of EDB Dallas Centre from 2002 to 2005, and of EDB Chicago Centre in 2001. He joined EDB in 1996.
He received a Bachelor of Arts (First Class Honours) in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University in 1996.
Choi joined IHS Markit in 2016 as a Principal Analyst with the Chemicals Group based in Singapore. He covers Vinyl chain such as EDC, VCM, PVC with a primary focus on the Asian region; bringing critical insights and analysis to fulfill client’s objectives. Prior to joining IHS Markit, Choi began his career in the chemical industry with Hanwha Chemical Corporation and worked for 11 years. His main responsibility was in Vinyl industry including regional sales, marketing, business development and product management for the biggest chlor-alkali and vinyl facility in Korea. He is responsible for the Asian Vinyl Market report which covers prices, trade dynamics, supply/demand, analysis of the PVC economics, margins and cash costs.
Sok Peng joined IHS Markit in May 2016 as senior manager for Asian aromatics, same day analysis. She is responsible for IHS Markit price assessment methodology and news coverage. Sok Peng started her price assessment career at Platts in 2008, where she headed the petrochemical team in Asia and the Middle East. She subsequently joined The Petrochemical Standard as editorial director (Asia & Middle East) where she developed the pricing methodology and built up the reporting team.
Sok Peng graduated from Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, Canada.
Jiwon joined OPIS to be responsible for its Asian operations. He began his career in the price reporting industry at Platts in 1998 and then moved to Reuters and became Senior Energy Reporter in 2003. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from Ashland University in Ohio.
Mr. Duncan Clark is Vice President, Aromatics, IHS Markit OMDC group. He has several decades of experience in a variety of roles within the chemical industry across multiple product areas. As the key resource within IHS Markit for understanding and insight into the aromatics sector of the petrochemical industry for these key regions, he works closely with the petrochemical, oil and financial industries, bringing support and guidance throughout the petrochemical chain.
Prior to joining IHS Markit, he worked for ExxonMobil Shell JV and Air Products and Chemicals. Mr. Clark holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons.) in Chemical Engineering from University College London and a Master of Business Administration.
Premasish Das, Director, IHS Markit (IHSM) Energy, manages the Oil Markets, Midstream, Downstream (OMD) Research and Analysis team and the Asia and Middle East market services covering crude oil, refined products, and petrochemical feedstock. Mr. Das has more than 20 years of industry experience in both refining and petrochemicals. In addition to research activities, he provides clients with customized consultation on strategic analysis and commercial and technical assessments. Prior to joining IHS Markit, Mr. Das was with ExxonMobil’s Singapore refinery, where he held various engineering, marketing and management positions. He also held posts at National Organic Chemical Industries Limited in India. Mr. Das holds a Master’s degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India.
Yanyu He is Director of Natural Gas Liquids (NGLs) Research, IHS Markit Energy. He leads the Asia Pacific and Middle East NGLs markets. He has 14 years of experience in the energy industry covering various markets and areas of expertise. Prior to joining HIS, he spent five years at The Boston Consulting Group and played a major role in the firm’s North American upstream and midstream energy market research, focusing on unconventional oil and gas and NGLs. He also spent about four years at Direct Energy, with responsibilities that included risk management, market fundamentals research and natural gas trading strategy. He holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Tsinghua University and a PhD from Washington University in St. Louis.
Leshan’s current role in IHS Markit is Associate Director for Acetyls in Asia, based in Beijing. He works closely with the methanol sector, and brings his insight and experience to the Asia Acetyls market. His current responsibilities include the weekly and monthly Global Acetyls Market Report and primary input and support for the World Acetyls Analysis.
Before joining IHS Markit in June 2012, Leshan had a ten-year career with China National Chemical Information Center (CNCIC). At CNCIC, He served as a senior consultant manager, leading, organizing and completing over a hundred China chemical consulting projects, mainly related to coal chemicals, specialty chemicals and petrochemicals.
Leshan received his bachelor degree of chemistry from Qingdao University Science and Technology in 1998, and his master degree of chemistry from Beijing Technology and Business University in 2002.
Mr. Brian Lee serves as a director at IHS Markit responsible for covering Styrene, Phenol and Acetone market analysis and the market reports on Asian Aromatics.
He is responsible for covering Styrene, Phenol and Acetone market analysis and the Asia market report. He contributes to various market advisory publications and support consulting activities. His distinguished career has spanned 20 years in the petrochemical and chemical industries. Previously, he worked with Argus Dewitt for three years as a vice president covering Asian Aromatics. He contributed to numerous market reports, single client studies and also hosted the Asian conference including speaking. Mr. Lee started his career with Samsung C&T Corporation where he worked for 16 years both in Asia and Europe. He was responsible for trading and marketing BTX, Styrene, PX and PTA to global customers.
Alan joined IHS Markit in 2010 as a Director with the Chemicals Consulting Group based in Singapore. He is leading and managing single-client studies, bringing critical insights and analyses to fulfill client’s objectives. He is currently a Senior Manager with the IHS Markit Chemicals Market Insight Division.
Prior to joining IHS Markit, he was in both aromatics and fibers consulting in Asia with primary responsibility for PET Bottle Resin for Asia, Polyester Fiber, PTA, MEG, Phenol and Acetone for China. These responsibilities require input to the Global Plastics & Polymers Market Report, Global Fibers and Feedstocks Market Report, Asian Market Report – Aromatics and Plastics & Polymers Asia/Middle East/India Weekly. Alan maintains and updates Asia/China price forecasts and monitors and updates on capacities in Asia/China.
He has worked on a number of business advisory studies for the various CMAI offices in compiling China related industrial data and market information. Alan maintains firm relationship with most major China petrochemical producers and traders allowing him to acquire reliable and accurate market data for the China petrochemical markets.
In August 2001, Alan joined Chemical Market Associates, Inc. (CMAI) as an Analyst through our Singapore office. He was then assigned to CMAI’s partnering office in Shanghai serving as CMAI’s China Representative where provided support to the Global Fiber and Feedstocks team on China polyester and intermediates for the monthly fibers report, as well as the World Methanol team for an Asia weekly report.
In January 2012, JP Nah joined IHS Markit as Director of Polyolefins – Asia in our Singapore office. JP Nah brings with him an extensive background in polyolefins and over 20 years in the industry. His initial focus was to overlook the Global Plastics and Polymers Market Report Asia Report. JP Nah covers Polyethylene (PE) and Polypropylene (PP) in the Asia region to contribute to our market advisory publications as well as supporting various business advisory activities in the Asia.
His most recent assignment was with Idemitsu Chemical Southeast Asia as the Deputy General Manager since 1993 where he was accountable for managing the business operations for Polyolefin and Polystyrene in the Asia region. He was responsible for setting and achieving the annual sales targets. JP Nah was involved actively in establishing the new products development and providing marketing information for the group. He also plays the role for developing the strategic marketing plan in various fields for the projects and expansion within the region.
Prior to joining Idemitsu Chemical Southeast Asia, JP Nah had over 6 years of experience with Nagase Singapore Pte Ltd from 1987 to 1993 in handling plastic polymer trading and stock management in Southeast Asia. His last assignment was as Assistance Manager – Commodity Plastics and Machinery.
Mr Kenneth Ng is the Director of Commodities Specialists at SGX. He is a pioneer member of the team behind the 2005 launch of SGX AsiaClear, Asia’s first multi-asset class central counterparty clearing facility.
Mr Ng works closely with commodities market participants globally to promote the use of commodities derivatives for price risk management and SGX as the central counterparty for OTC traded products. He is a regular speaker at commodities industry conferences and training workshops.
Mr Ng joined SGX in July 2001 and has held various positions in the Intermediaries, Product Development and Commodities Sales units. He has 19 years of relevant experience in the derivatives market covering financials, commodities and shipping derivatives.
Mr Ng holds an Honors degree in Banking & Finance from the University of London.
Omi currently serves as Director in IHS Markit and has the responsibility of Asian Aromatics business. In 2006, Omi joined Chemical Market Associates, Inc. (CMAI) as a Director with primary responsibility in research and analysis of the Asian Aromatics value chain. Omi now serves in the chemicals insights business with main focus on the building blocks of the Aromatics value chain. Apart from regular market and outlook update, Omi also leads our effort in creating and updating the long term outlook for the BTX value chain.
Omi has also been involved in numerous consulting studies and conducted presentations for key chemical executives.
Prior to joining CMAI in 2006, Omi had a distinguished career in the Aromatics Groups for Idemitsu Kosan marketing benzene, toluene, styrene, cyclohexane and paraxylene. Omi was responsible for developing a sales policy and managing the production and sales sections. He performed his own market analysis to support all final decisions for his group. From 2000 to 2003, Omi was based in Singapore for Idemitsu Southeast Asia for marketing aromatics and polymers.
Mike Park is associate director of Acrylates and SAP in IHS Markit Singapore.
He finished his Bachelors degree in International Trade at University of Kyunghee in 2007 and started his career at LG Chem in Korea. Mike Park worked as a SAP sales manager in LG Chem for 8 years and used to cover various regions, such as North and South America, Northeast Asia including China, and other Asian region.
After he moved to IHS Markit in last February 2017, he continues to nurture his knowledge on the acrylates and SAP industry with his global team in USA, UK and China.
Mr. Utpal Sheth serves as an executive director at IHS Markit in Singapore with responsibility for the Asian Polymers business.
He is the service leader for the Global Plastics and Polymers Market Report, Asia, Middle East and Indian service. As a subject matter expert on Polymers, he supports strategic business planning, competitive and market analysis, as well as technical services pertaining to Polymers. In addition to leading the Weekly Polymers service, he contributes to market advisory services and supports consulting activities. In July 2014, he relocated to Singapore to lead the Polymers Business in Asia and the Middle East. In 2007, Mr. Sheth joined the Dubai office of Chemical Market Associates Inc. (CMAI), as Director of Polyolefin / PVC for the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent. He started his career at Reliance and worked in various capacities for more than 12 years. His extensive sales, marketing and technical services experience and knowledge of Polyolefins (PE / PP) and PVC industry spans over 23 years. Mr. Utpal Sheth holds a Master of Business Administration with specialization in marketing, and he is an Engineering graduate with a specialization in plastics.
Anthony joined IHS Markit Singapore in April 2013 as Senior Manager – Asia Olefins and Elastomers. His responsibility in IHS Markit includes the support of the Asia olefins service leader in the publication of the Asia Market Report – Light Olefins. In addition, he is also responsible for the daily coverage for the butadiene/C4 and elastomers markets in Asia pacific, including the monthly contributions to the Global Outlook for Feedstock (C4) and Elastomers Report.
Anthony started his career as petrochemical trader at Hanwha Corporation in Korea. His duties were to trade EDC/VCM/C4 LPG within Northeast Asia and Southeast Asia. Later he became Trading Manager for handling Crude C4/Butadiene/Raffinates as well as supporting other Olefin products such as Ethylene and Propylene.
In 2006, he was sent to Dubai, UAE, as a regional experts program started by Hanwha Group. He has stayed there for 9 months to research and develop future strategic item within the Mideast.
In 2008, he was sent to Singapore to work at Hanwha International (one of overseas office in Hanwha) as Team Manager handling Olefins and Aromatics. He mainly concentrated on Toluene as well as other C4 Olefins products.
From end of 2011 till early 2013, he extended his career as Toluene broker at BNL Chemicals.
Peter runs Macquarie Bank’s oil trading team in Asia, as well working in a broader team originating structured commodity transactions and strategic transactions in Asia Pacific. Peter has spent over 10 years involved in the Commodities sector working in trading, structuring and investment banking, based both in London and Singapore. He has been involved in a number of strategic transactions as well as trading exotic and portfolio options.
Mr. Jinsu Yim serves as a director at IHS Markit specializing in olefins and the analysis of the propylene and propylene derivatives markets in Asia.
His responsibilities as director include supporting the Asia Light Olefins service leader and contributing to market reports and analysis for light olefins, ethylene and propylene, providing industry-specific data and insights for long-term capacity, supply/demand, price forecasting, technology and trade balances. Previously, he was with LG Chem Ltd as purchasing manager for EDC/VCM/Olefin/Alcohols. His duties included managing domestic and overseas consumption of ethylene and propylene, overseeing long-term EDC purchasing agreements, conducting feasibility studies on sourcing raw materials. Prior to that, he served as a sales representative for PVC/VCM resin to develop and implement marketing strategies, as well as coordinate export, production, R&D and logistics divisions.
