Mr. Damian Chan was appointed Executive Director of the Energy & Chemicals Cluster in July, 2015. In that capacity, he leads the development of an industry that accounts for more than a third of Singapore’s manufacturing output. Previously, between 2011 till June 2015, as International Director for Americas, he led EDB’s operations across North and South America, working closely with global companies here to help them succeed in Asia via Singapore. Prior to that, he was the Director of Electronics Cluster in EDB. He was also the Centre Director of EDB Dallas Centre from 2002 to 2005, and of EDB Chicago Centre in 2001. He joined EDB in 1996.
He received a Bachelor of Arts (First Class Honours) in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University in 1996.
Dr. Inoguchi has been involved in the market research and business analysis of the chemical industry in Japan and Asian countries after he joined IHS Markit (formerly SRI Consulting) as a senior consultant in 2003. His contributions include market research reports preparation for Specialty Chemicals Update Program (SCUP) such as electronic chemicals, printing Inks, paper chemicals water management chemicals, biocides and overview of SCUP.
Prior to joining IHS Markit, he was engaged in R&D of electronics materials such as liquid crystals, photoresists at Hoechst more than 10 years, and in electronic chemical business at Bayer more than five years. He received a Doctor degree in Chemistry from the Technical University of Munich in Germany and conducted chemistry research as a postdoctoral fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States.
Andrew Lanham graduated in chemistry in 1988 and then joined Synthomer, a producer of synthetic latices, as a research chemist, where he enjoyed a very successful career steering technical functions, global business units and the major regions for over 25 years. During this time, Synthomer became the global leader in the production of nitrile latex, predominantly serving the glove industry. In 2014, Andrew joined the Indorama Group, working at YTY, the world`s largest producer of high quality synthetic rubber single use gloves where he is a Director, responsible for Business Operations. Amongst other activities this involves him in the design, development of gloves, strategic procurement of nitrile and manufacture of in excess of 35,000,000 gloves per day.
Mr. Paul Overment has over 32 years experience in the petrochemicals industry and has lived and worked in both Europe and Asia. He joined BP Chemicals in 1990 where he held a number of senior engineering and business roles across Europe before joining INEOS in 2005. On joining INEOS, Paul served as Asia General Manager based in Shanghai, overseeing INEOS businesses in China, Japan, Korea and Singapore. Since 2010, he has held INEOS Commercial Director roles in both INEOS Enterprises and INEOS Olefins & Polymers businesses before being appointed as CEO INEOS Nitriles in 2015. Paul has a degree in Chemical Engineering and is a Chartered Engineer. He is based in INEOS Nitriles Headquarters in Rolle, Switzerland.
Daniel has over 15 years of experience in the plastics industry, holding various responsibilities, ranging from regional sales and marketing, business development to management. He joined CMAI, now IHS Markit, in 2010 as Director of Styrenics and Engineering Resins – Asia. He contributes to numerous market advisory publications and supports business consulting activities.
Daniel had a successful career with Idemitsu Chemicals Southeast Asia as the Senior Manager in Singapore since 1994. He was responsible for developing new accounts in the Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions. Daniel has vast experience in sales and marketing of polystyrene, expandable polystyrene and polycarbonate. He was instrumental in the development of strategic export business for a 110,000 ton polystyrene plant in Pasir Gudang, Malaysia. He was also responsible for developing business plans and implementing marketing strategies for the engineering plastics business in the region.
Prior to joining Idemitsu Chemical Southeast Asia, Daniel had more than 5 years of experience in the market research industry. He was mainly responsible to train researchers in Singapore and Malaysia to conduct market studies covering the manufacturing and retail industries.
Mr. Jinsu Yim serves as a director at IHS Markit specializing in olefins and the analysis of the propylene and propylene derivatives markets in Asia.
His responsibilities as director include supporting the Asia Light Olefins service leader and contributing to market reports and analysis for light olefins, ethylene and propylene, providing industry-specific data and insights for long-term capacity, supply/demand, price forecasting, technology and trade balances. Previously, he was with LG Chem Ltd as purchasing manager for EDC/VCM/Olefin/Alcohols. His duties included managing domestic and overseas consumption of ethylene and propylene, overseeing long-term EDC purchasing agreements, conducting feasibility studies on sourcing raw materials. Prior to that, he served as a sales representative for PVC/VCM resin to develop and implement marketing strategies, as well as coordinate export, production, R&D and logistics divisions.
