New PIERS Container Database added to Global Trade portfolio
New to our Global Trade portfolio is the introduction of the PIERS Container Database that provides a container-centric view of the US waterborne import and export trade market. Each record in the database contains PIERS standard information about the container such as where the container is coming from, where it’s ultimately going to, and the US port involved in the transaction, etc. This particular view of the data also provides transparency into the characteristics of that particular container, including:
- Container number
- Type of container
- Length of container
- If the container was a refrigerated container, was it active at the time of shipment
Analyzing the lifecycle of container movement can be extremely valuable for intermodal companies by helping to streamline their supply chain. Optimizing the equipment made available to transport containerized goods will save intermodal companies time and money. This database provides information on various types of containers including:
- Thermal Containers. Mechanically refrigerated and heated
- Tank Container
- Open Top Containers
- Dry Bulk Containers
- General Purpose Containers with opening at one or both ends
