  • Worldwide – Entered more than 902,300 km of 2D and 472,900 sq km of 3D
  • Worldwide 3D – Approximately 435,180 sq km was offshore, while 37,760 was onshore. Multi-Client and Spec saw an increase of 226,300 sq km, Exclusive 246,600 sq km. Notable additions for 3D included:
    • Australia 12,000 sq km
    • Argentina 11,400 sq km
    • Brazil 14,300 sq km
    • Mexico 25,200 sq km
    • Norway 129,000 sq km
  • Worldwide 2D – Approximately 759,900 km was offshore, while 142,200 km was onshore. Multi-Client and Spec saw an increase of 373,670 km, Exclusive 528,630 km. Notable additions for 2D:
    • Australia 72,600 km
    • Argentina & Falklands 213,000 km
    • Mexico 108,000 km
    • Brazil 70,700 km
    • Colombia 29,600 km
    • Iran 90,200 km
    • United Kingdom 23,500
  • Argentina – Offshore survey navigation layer project completed resulting in more than 342,444 km 2D data entered (inc. 2015 data entry). Neuquen Basin 3D navigation project is underway
  • Australia – Offshore survey navigation layer project completed resulting in more than 415,460 km 2D entered (inc. 2015 data entry)

Survey Module


  • Worldwide – Added 690 exploration surveys, both current, historical, and planned with Colombia leading the way with 70 surveys, followed by Australia 44, Pakistan 41, Italy 32, Russia 31, Brazil 26, Argentina 24
  • Currency – Of the 690 surveys added, some 298 surveys had a start date later than 1 January 2016 (not including planned surveys)
  • Completeness – At the request of clients, a new initiative was started to include planned surveys
  • Countries – Over 70 countries saw an increase in surveys added
