Over the past year, there has been a greater-than-expected fluctuation in TV panel prices not seen in past cycles, with the oscillating prices creating significant anxiety among the various players in the TV display supply chain. TV panels prices have been skyrocketing since this August: 40-/43-inch prices are back to last cycle high in April 2015, while others are higher than a year ago except for the 55-inch+.

In response to the record high panel price hike in H2 2016, it is a critical timing for TV makers to evaluate their capability to manage finances or aim for higher market share. In 2017, business plans of panel makers will be subject to change rapidly as a reflection of fluctuating supply chain dynamics and the ways to enhance supply chain bargains. Supply base management in 2017 is turning to be an even tougher task for TV makers.
