Mr. Dennis Murphy is a Senior Analyst for Cyberspace Operations at IHS Jane’s DS Forecast
​​He is responsible for global cyberspace operations market research and analysis. Mr. Murphy previously served as the director of information in the Warfare Group at Center for Strategic Leadership, US Army War College. During this time, he taught courses and conducted workshops on the information element of power to include the concepts of information operations, cyberspace operations and strategic communication. He served in a variety of command and staff positions over his 27 years of US Army service to include command of a direct support artillery battalion forward deployed to Germany and an associate professorship at West Point. Mr. Murphy served as the first George C. Marshall Fellow for Political-Military and Diplomatic Gaming at the Department of State's Foreign Service Institute. His work in information operations (IO) includes a tour as senior observer-trainer for the Battle Command Training Program, Operations Group Delta (Joint Task Force and Combatant Command trainers) where he trained NATO multinational forces on IO prior their initial deployment to Bosnia. Mr. Murphy has written on information operations, strategic communication, new media, and national security issues and published in numerous professional outlets. Several representative articles include "Attack or Defend? Leveraging Information and Balancing Risk in Cyberspace" in Military Review and "In Search of the Art and Science of Strategic Communication," published in Parameters, both of which won professional awards for writing. Additionally, he has recently published or co-published in IHS Jane's International Defence Review and IHS Quarterly on current cyber operations issues. Mr. Murphy is Accredited in Public Relations and Military Communication (APR+M) by the Public Relations Society of America. He has a Bachelor of Science in Basic Sciences from the US Military Academy and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University, US.​
