John Buchowski is the Vice President of commercial product for IHS Product Design. Responsibilities include product management and go to market for the Engineering Workbench, Engineering Standards, Knowledge Collections and Goldifre product lines. Mr. Buchowski joined IHS in 2014 to lead efforts revitalizing the Product Design product portfolio, bringing 5 separate information and knowledge delivery systems into a common Engineering Workbench solution. John has been focused on engineering software and solutions for over two decades.
John holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics from the University of Minnesota.
Chris Carnahan, MPA, AStd is responsible for the National Aerospace Standards (NAS) program. The National Aerospace Standards are a library of industry consensus documents that provide standard practices and part standards used throughout the Aerospace industry. The NAS part standards provide the necessary information to manufacture components and fasteners that are used on commercial and military aircraft and spacecraft.
Chris is the staff liaison to AIA's Standards Governance Board, which manages the overall health and performance of the AIA standards system by providing strategy, policy, oversight, and guidance for its activities, including standards, and standards-related products/services. Chris is active in the ANSI International Forum (AIF), is the Secretary of ISO/TC 20, Aircraft and Space Vehicles, and currently serves as the vice chair of ANSI’s Organizational Member Forum (OMF). Chris is an active member of SES - The Society for Standards Professionals, and was awarded the society's Lorne K. Wagner Award in 2015 for outstanding contribution to the growth and development of SES. He is the current chair of SES's Leadership Development Committee.
Before joining AIA, Chris was the Manager, Standards Operations for the Compressed Gas Association, a trade association in the Washington, D.C. area that develops safety standards for the compressed gas and medical gas industry. Chris has a Master's Degree in Public Administration from George Mason University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Mary Washington.
Donna Eaton is an Engineering Group Manager at General Motors in Warren, Michigan. Currently, she manages the global process for Engineering Standards and General Forms & Templates as well as acting as the global business owner/champion of Product Development’s business record repository. After working for Procter & Gamble in Cincinnati, Ohio for almost 2 years, Donna joined GM. Over the past 27 years, she has worked in various roles throughout the Product Development Organization, including design/release, validation and testing organizations. She received her B.S.E. in Industrial & Operations Engineering from University of Michigan and her MBA (concentration in Management) from University of Detroit-Mercy. Donna currently resides in Troy, MI where she and her husband have a son in his second year at Michigan State University.
David Hernandez is the Director of Education Development and Systems with AWS. Over an 18 year career in education, he taught in the classroom, spoken at over 100 education conferences around the world and consulted with dozens of schools. David specialized in educational technology development and implementation.
Jeff oversees the Americas sales team for Engineering & Product Design. This responsibility includes all sales in the United States, Canada, and Latin America through all channels, including field, inside and partner. Bringing more than 20 years of enterprise software and executive sales management experience, Jeff was previously in leadership roles at Invention Machine Corporation, which was acquired by IHS in 2012. IMC developed the semantic research and problem solving technology that now underpins Engineering Workbench. Previously, Jeff also held senior management positions at Responsys Inc., and Hyperion Solutions, Inc., both companies now part of Oracle Corporation. He earned a J.D. from Western New England University, a C.A.S in Software Engineering from Harvard University, and a BS in Natural Resources Management from the University of Maine.
Rodney D. Ludema is a Professor of Economics and Foreign Service at Georgetown University and former Chief Economist of the United States Department of State. Ludema has published extensively on international economics. His research and publications have focused on international trade policy and institutions, international political economy, tax competition, economic geography, and the nexus of trade and the environment. He is also on the editorial board of the Journal of International Economics.
As Chief Economist under Secretary of State John Kerry, Ludema advised the Department on global economic issues related to U.S. foreign policy. He headed the Office of the Chief Economist, which conducts quantitative research on top-priority issues for the Department, including climate change, sanctions, internet freedom, aviation, trade, and refugees and migration.
Ludema holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Columbia University, and prior to joining the Georgetown faculty, was an assistant professor at the University of Western Ontario. He has held several visiting positions, including at Princeton University, the University of Maryland, the University of British Columbia, and the U. S. International Trade Commission. He served as Senior International Economist at the Council of Economic Advisers in the Obama White House prior to joining the State Department.
Adam Newman is IEEE Senior Director New Business Development & Operations and IEEE-ISTO Executive Relationship Manager.
Mr. Newman has more than 20 years industry experience in developing and managing business related to technology development. He is responsible for developing and diversifying the business of the IEEE Standards Association and the operations of its technology incubation program, Industry Connections, and the IEEE's Registry, Conformity Assessment business as well as Alliance Management via the IEEE Industry Standards Technology Organization (ISTO). He is an in-demand speaker at conferences throughout the world on technical standards and their usage and the evolution of standards delivery and implementation. From his prior work, he is an expert in the business issues surrounding network interconnection, naming numbering and addressing as well as telephone number portability, and he holds a patent in that area. He has also provided testimony at United States (US) Congressional Committee and Sub-Committee level and has been a frequenter presenter at the US FCC and its North American Numbering Council. He is a member of IEEE, SES and ASAE.
Jennifer Reid is the Global Engineering Lead within the Operations Excellence Team at ConocoPhillips. She has over 17 years of experience with ConocoPhillips spending her first 6 years in the downstream organization as a Technical Support Engineer in the Lubes & Specialty Business. Moving to the upstream organization, Jennifer held several Operations and Maintenance engineering and leadership roles in the UK before transferring to the Gulf Coast Business Unit as Operations Support Manager in 2013. Jennifer moved into her current role in March 2015 and is currently leading a company-wide effort around corporate functional standards. Jennifer has a MEng in Chemical Engineering from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland.
Rusty Rentsch is Vice President for Technical Operations and Workforce, supporting the AIA Technical Operations Council and the E-Business Steering Group and their Committees, which includes the AIA Product Support and Engineering Management Committees.
Rentsch actively participates with various government groups such as The Joint Aeronautics Logistic Commanders, Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages Working Group and the Joint Council on Aging Aircraft. Currently, he chairs the ISO Technical Committee 20 for Aircraft and Space Vehicles and is a member of the AIA-ASD-ATA S1000D Council and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) – H35 Committee for Aluminum and Aluminum Alloys.
Rentsch has over 17 years of experience in both commercial and military aerospace industry sectors including Technical Support Engineering and Commercial Support positions with Messier-Services Inc. At Textron Lycoming, his responsibilities included activities within the Engineering disciplines of Standards, Customer Support and Design. Rentsch has held product management positions in both the Telecommunications industry and the Transportation Industry.
Rentsch has a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and Ocean Engineering from the University of Rhode Island and an MBA degree from George Mason University.
Daniel Rodriguez is Vice President for IHS Markit, Asia Pacific. He has worked for 20 years (17 with IHS Markit) in sales and marketing both domestically (US) and in Asian operations. He has been the Operational Leader for IHS Markit within Asia Pacific since 2007 continuing the geo-market expansion of all IHS Markit business units. Through organic growth, internal investment and through continual aggressive acquisition, Daniel continues to operationalize our transformational Engineering and Product Design business to better serve our customers within his respective geo-market.

Alban has worked in STM electronic publishing in a variety of customer service, sales and publisher relations roles since 1987 for Dialog, Knight-Ridder, Thomson Science and BSI. He has been in his present role as Head of Licensing & Partnership Development for BSI since 2006. Alban work with commercial and other partners to expand the use of British Standards through their own and other’s products. He is responsible for all distributor relationships around the world for BSI Standards as well as working with other publishers and standards bodies to license in content for their own products and services.
Outside of work he has managed to raise 2 mechanical engineers and looks forward to the younger one leaving home. Alban’s passion is rugby and subject to a successful completion of his previous wish, would love to visit Japan in 2019 for the rugby world cup.
Adam, General Manager, Strategy and Public Affairs, leads Standards Australia’s business strategy, commercial partnerships and member relations as well as the communications, media and public affairs team. Adam joined Standards Australia in 2009 as a member of the national sector management team and has held various roles in both engagement and standards development. Adam represents Standards Australia on a number of national and international committees and is a non-executive director of Construction Information Systems Limited. Prior to this, Adam spent time in commerce from small business to multi-national corporations in business, product and market development. Prior to joining Standards Australia, Adam was a senior manager with a commercial consulting company wholly owned by a Group of Eight Australian university.
Adam initially trained as a lawyer and spent approximately 10 years on the personal staff of Judges and then in practice as a litigator. Adam holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice.
Laura Torres has been with IHS Markit for 15 years, starting as the Marketing lead for the Latin America Region, and later as the Sales Leader for both Direct Sales and Channel Partner sales in the Region.
Laura has been working with customers along different countries and industries, and has been developing and growing the Channel Partner Relationship, that today represents the main commercial strategy for IHS Markit in the Region.
Experience in other IHS Markit BLs, such as Aerospace and Defence, Automotive, Maritime and Trade, and Economics, have given Laura a wider vision of the needs of the market in Latin America.
Laura is based in Mexico city, and holds a BSc in Marketing and a MBA from ITESM University in Mexico.
Paul Trewin is the IHS Markit E&PD Sales Leader for the Middle East Region. Paul has been with IHS Markit for 11 years working across EMEA in a number of different sectors, markets and commercial operating models. Paul grew up in the UK and Singapore before joining the British Army as an Officer. A knee injury cut short a military career and Paul joined IHS Markit serving across the Defence, Security, Maritime and most recently, Engineering Sectors as part of the transformative growth strategy of Engineering and Product Design. Paul speaks several languages and is experienced in working across the diverse cultures of the EMEA region. Paul is here at SPAB 2017 representing the wider EMEA team.
Paul holds a BSc French & Economics with International Business from the University of Surrey.
Michele Trogni is Executive Vice President of consolidated markets and solutions for IHS Markit. She was previously co-head of Markit's Solutions Division and was responsible for Markit's managed services businesses, which included KYC, KY3P, Markit digital and Markit tax solutions. Prior to joining Markit in 2013, Michele had over 25 years of experience in banking, most recently acting as Group Chief Information Officer for UBS and, prior to that, as head of UBS investment bank operations. She holds a BA (Hons) in Accounting from Northumbria University and is a qualified accountant (ACCA).
