Ege Seckin

Principal Analyst, Country Risk, IHS Markit

Ege Seckin is responsible for analysis of the political, security and business environment of Turkey and the wider Middle East. Prior to joining IHS, Ege attained a First Class Honours in Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Warwick University and completed an MSc degree in International Relations at the London School of Economics.

Ege has worked as an Analyst at the Turkish Embassy in London and conducted research with Professor Fawaz Gerges at the LSE. Ege works closely with clients on security risks to infrastructure assets in southeast Turkey and northern Iraq. He has featured numerous times on media outlets including Al Jazeera and CNBC. Ege speaks fluent English and Turkish, and intermediate French.

Iain Mathewson

Independent Risk Advisor, IHS Country Risk (Chair) Iain Mathewson is a Senior Forecasting Adviser for IHS. He served in Britain's foreign service from 1980 until 2006, with postings in the UK Mission to the UN in New York, and in the embassies in Warsaw and Prague. Since 2006 he has been an independent adviser on international security, working with corporate clients seeking to manage political and violent risks to their global assets. Since 2008 Iain has been an Associate Fellow of the International Security Department of the Royal Institute of International Affairs at Chatham House.

Kokcharov, Alex

Principal Analyst, IHS Country Risk Alex has a Masters in Geography and Economics from Belaruski Dziarzhauny Universitet and a PhD in Human Geography from Oxford. He has 10+ years’ experience in data driven business journalism, most recently working as International Communications Manager for Ve International and as a London based correspondent for Expert, a leading Russian business weekly, where he authored over 800 feature stories. Alex has lived in Belarus, Russia, Germany and the UK; he speaks Russian, German and Belarusian fluently, has working knowledge of Ukrainian and speaks basic Polish.
