IHS Markit colleagues are passionate about making a positive impact in their communities. In addition to corporate sponsored events, colleagues provide support over 600 organizations and institutions around the world through volunteering, philanthropic giving, In-kind donations and participation at the board level on many nonprofit organizations. These opportunities reinforce colleague engagement company-wide.
IHS Markit endorses three philanthropic and community areas:
2016 Highlights and Donations
As part of our strategy to advance education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), IHS Markit donates a significant amount of our geological, oil, gas and financial software products to universities as in-kind donations. A majority of our donations consist of Petra, Harmony, and Kingdom. Kingdom - a solution that allows geoscientists to make more accurate decisions about where and how to drill for oil and gas - represents 59% of our total US$336 million donation. Introduced in FY2013, the annual volunteer benefit offers three days of of paid time off for all colleagues to volunteer during their work day. With this new benefit in place, IHS Markit colleagues volunteered more than 35,000 hours in 2016 (a 14 percent increase from 2015). Our 2017 volunteer goal is 40,000 hours, which will help us exceed 150,000 volunteer hours since 2012.
IHS Markit colleagues are integral to our sustainability efforts, contributing innovative ideas, sharing time for charitable causes, raising awareness and making personal donations.

CEO Diversity Pledge
Lance Uggla, President and member of the Board of Directors, signed the CEO diversity pledge on behalf of IHS Markit, committing to make our workplace a trusting places to have complex, and sometimes difficult, conversations about diversity and inclusion, to implement and expand unconscious bias education and to share best-and unsuccessful-practices.
Pride@IHSMarkit are groups open to all employees that aim to create a culture and a company that is welcoming and inclusive for LGBTQ colleagues. These groups raise awareness through communication and events with active employee Pride groups in the US, UK and India. Their remit, both internal and external, is to engage with partner networks, clients and the communities around us. In 2017, we launched a company-wide LGBTQ Ally program. An ally can be anyone who supports the LGBTQ community.
