• Access the most comprehensive, validated, and up-to-date well data from one single source for Canada and Wyoming, North Dakota, and Montana in the United States
  

IHS Well Header Data collects drilling information from all areas in Canada. Available in both digital and hardcopy formats, the digital data is verified back to the hardcopy documents and is delivered at several different intervals.

Well Header Data includes:

• Licensing 
• Amendments 
• Cancellations 
• Spud dates 
• Rig release dates 
• Drill depths 
• Plug backs 
• Cementing 
• Tour occurrences

IHS Completion Data is collected for areas throughout Canada. The Western provinces supply digital data that is augmented by additional manual review of original hardcopy information. Completion information for the Territories and East Coast areas is captured from hardcopy source documents. The top and bottom of completion zones are matched to Interpreted Formation Tops to enable easier querying for software and against the Information Hub.

Completion Data includes:

IHS Log Interval Data provides information on the borehole captured from digital and hardcopy logs for:

IHS Government Formation Tops compiles formation information from various government bodies and their geologists on the various sets of tops local to the various Canadian regions.

IHS Interpreted Formation Tops and porous intervals are offered as a comprehensive and complete regional correlation tool. IHS offers consistency of tops through an extensive network of over 850 cross sections. New drilling activity is monitored to ensure the most current formation top information is added to the database as soon as the logs are available. Over 25,000 new and 10,000 refined formation tops are added to our General Well database each year. 

Structure and isopach maps are used to ensure the historical and newly added well tops match IHS cross sections. True vertical depth (TVD) tops are calculated for deviated wells using our tops and directional surveys data. New formation tops are added to the database weekly after a trend analysis is performed on each top and each well is compared against neighboring wells.

Formation Tops are a foundational dataset to leverage additional subsurface data, including: IHS Directional Surveys, IHS DST Data, IHS Core Analyses Data, IHS Reserves Data, IHS Pool Data, as well as interpreted producing zone information.
