IHS Chemical World Analysis - Benzene
IHS Chemical World Analysis - Benzene is an annual study that covers historical trends and forecasts for benzene supply/demand fundamentals over a 16-year period (five-year history, base year, ten-year forecast). Clients receive detailed data on benzene and major derivatives in 10 geographic regions with ten-year market forecasts.

Typically, global benzene demand grows at the same rate as the gross domestic product (GDP) and in the next five years this is expected to continue. In Europe and North America, gasoline demand is forecast to decline which will have an impact on benzene production from reformate. On top of this, in North America the crackers have switched to lighter feeds which mean lower production volumes from pygas compared to history. Fortunately, benzene production in Asia will continue to grow at high rates particularly in Southeast Asia and the Indian subcontinent and so the region will continue to export product to North America and Western Europe. The main sources of supply will be from reformate and pygas as gasoline demand is growing in the region and naphtha is the dominant feedstock for the crackers. However, demand for polyester is a result of increased benzene production from paraxylene and also by the various processes from converting toluene to mixed xylenes and benzene. In the Middle East, benzene production is growing but so is demand so there will be only a small increase in net exports from this region during the forecast period.
IHS Chemical World Analysis - Benzene examines historical trends and long term projections for supply/demand, production, capacity, and trade of the global benzene industry over a 16-year period (five-year history, base year, ten-year forecast).
Included with the IHS Chemical World Analysis - Benzene is 12-month’s access to IHS Chemical’s online capacity and supply/demand databases, with updates to the capacity database as they occur and one update to the supply/demand database. The study’s conclusions, with text and graphs, are provided online; as are the Excel files for the supply/demand flat file and the regional supply/demand graphs.
A partial list of benzene derivatives covered includes:- Alkylbenzene
