License Contracts Dataset (International)

As part of the IHS International Exploration and Production Database, the License Contract Dataset provides current and historical data on worldwide acreage positions. It contains over 55,000 license contracts with 110,000 different blocks. Nearly half the records in this database are comprised of historical concession data, dating back 100 years. Find information on all stages of the contract process from application and award to partial relinquishment as well as changes in company interest.

The License Contract Dataset is a component of the International Exploration and Production Database. The Contract dataset module is used by E&P industry analysts and new venture and business development groups to evaluate the exploration and production history of more than 52,000 companies, including operating companies and participating companies with local subsidiaries. With this data, you can track a company's mergers and acquisitions to gain a better understanding of its exact structure and interests.

Ready Access to Historical Data
Precise information on the exact acreage situation a company has in a given area is critical for reliable analysis of farm-out offers. As demonstrated below, this dataset enables you to visually evaluate major changes in a company's concession acreage over an historical time span. It includes all stages from award to farm-outs to area-reductions to relinquishment.

These maps track a company's concession acreage over a ten year time period. The map to the left shows the 2008 concession situation. The map in the center shows the concession situation in 1998. The map to the right shows the acreage in which company A had an interest in 1998, whether operated or not.
