IHS CAPS+4D Connect

The CAPS+4D Connect tool is a powerful, desktop-based bill of materials (BOMs) cleansing and management tool. It provides a fast, visual reference by highlighting years to end of life and years to single source in easily identifiable red, yellow and green colors.

CAPS+4D Connect allows you to optimize and analyze your BOMs via:

• A single view of all relevant component data
• Microsoft Excel integration that makes it easy to import and export your BOMs and parts lists
• Custom export and reporting features to quickly share product and project details with co-workers, suppliers and partners

Multiple Data Sources

CAPS+4D Connect combines and views data from multiple sources without the need for complex IT integrations or expensive specialized hardware. Data integration includes the CAPS™ database, manufacturer’s web sites, internal ODBC (Open Database Connectivity) and other online sources.

CAPS+4D Connect Alerts

In addition, CAPS+4D Connect issues automatic email alerts when any of your components have a change of product change notification (PCN), end of life (EOL), last order date, last shipment date or manufacturer status of any captured parametric field.

CAPS+4D Connect issues automatic email alerts when any of your components incur a product change notification, end of life, last order date, last shipment date or manufacturer status of any captured parametric field.

CAPS+4D Connect also provides additional tools and solutions to help manage part risk and obsolescence issues that may arise out of your uploaded BOMs.

• BOM Watch: A customized tool that can be used to watch cleansed parts in one of more BOM files or ODBC Databases for changes found when comparing data from select data sources. Users can select what subjects are watched and customize other alert features (manufacturer status, lifecycle risk, lifecycle status, PCN, EOL, RoHS, last order dates, last ship dates, etc.)
• Risk Assessment: The CAPS+4D Connect tool provides BOM-level risk and obsolescence management through direct access to part lifecycle analysis, end of life (EOL) data (including last time buy and ship dates) and part replacement suggestions by type (direct replacement, upgrade, downgrade or similar)
