Changes to Grid and Well Locations in AccuMap
In April, IHS released an enhancement for IHS AccuMap® that has improved the precision of the grid both used in and exported from AccuMap. Even though the AccuMap grid has always been accurate, as the workflow between AccuMap and IHS PETRA® has evolved, so has the need to increase the precision of the AccuMap grid so that it is as precise as the IHS Enhanced Grid. (The Enhanced Grid is the central repository of spatial grid information used across all other grid-related IHS information, such as mineral land layers, surface layers and IHS Information Hub™ well locations.)
With the May release of AccuMap, all wells will now plot by the latitude and longitude. Historically, AccuMap has plotted wells based on the metes and bounds. This change, along with the improvements to the grid’s precision, will allow users to experience accurate coordinates when using the grid in AccuMap and when exporting it to other applications.
