The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) develops international standards that improve communication and collaboration as well as promote the smooth and equitable growth of international trade.
ISO standards are developed by technical committees that are comprised of experts from industrial, technical and business sectors that follow these standards. In addition, these committees may also include representatives of government agencies, testing laboratories, consumer associations, non-governmental organizations and academic circles.
The ISO standards collection includes standards covering engineering, design, production, testing and manufacturing. National standardization programs frequently reference internationally-recognized ISO standards. The ISO Standards Service contains complete English translations of ISO Standards and Recommendations consisting of thousands documents.
