The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) publishes European Union standards for safety and environmental protection in civil aviation. The Agency is responsible for monitoring the application of the EU aviation safety regulations and standards by the national aviation authorities of the EU Member States.
The work of the EASA centers on ensuring the highest levels of civil aviation safety through certification of aviation products; approval of organizations to provide aviation services and development and implementation of a standardized European regulatory framework. EASA also conducts accident investigation, safety analysis and several research programs related to safety.
