The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Technical Standards Program implements the requirements of Public Law 104-113 (PL 104-113), the "National Technology Transfer and Advancement Act of 1995." Technical standards include DOE standards, handbooks, specifications, and technical standards lists. These standards are considered voluntary consensus standards (VCSs).
Contractors supporting DOE use these standards when performing their missions and functions at DOE's facilities and activities such as:
