American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) publishes more than 500 codes and standards available in print and online, including the popular Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC).

ASME Standards Collection

IHS provides the entire ASME Standards Collection. ASME standards provide mechanical and multidisciplinary engineering codes, standards and conformity assessment programs.

The ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) provides rules of safety governing the design, fabrication and inspection of boilers, pressure vessels and nuclear power plant components during construction. The BPVC consists of twelve volumes.

The ASME BPVC is relevant for:

Boilers and pressure vessels
Power producing machines (and associated subsystems)
Nuclear facility components

This collection contains all sections of the code as well as code cases, interpretations, addenda and supplements.

The BPVC from ASME is divided into the following 14 sections:

Numerous municipalities, territories and every state in the United States and all the provinces of Canada have adopted the ASME BPVC, in part or in its entirety.
