Gosstandart (GOST) published and maintained Gosudarstvennyy Standart (State Standards) under the USSR. Now GOST standards continue to be used by the twelve member countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).GOST standards address industries such as petroleum, chemical, mining and mineral resources, power and electrical equipment and oil and gas products.CIS adopted these standards, which are administered by the Euro-Asian Council of Standardization, Metrology, and Certification (EASC).
EASC continues the international standards work started under the USSR and collaborates with several international standards bodies including ISO, the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), and the World Trade Organization (WTO).
The GOST collection of standards covers general and technical specifications as well as safety requirements. The GOST standards are useful to businesses performing work in Russia or any of the other CIS countries, which include:
