Nitrobenzene by Adiabatic Nitration

Published: May 1979

A continuous adiabtic nitration process for producing nitrobenzene, as patented by American Cyanamid, developed by Canadian Industries, and engineered by Chemetics, is evaluated. As compared with the conventional process, which uses cooling during nitration, this process requires less capital, and uses less materials and energy. Thus, it is significantly more economical.
