There are four commercial processes for direct synthesis of HCN. The Andrussow process, which prepares HCN by reaction of ammonia and methane with air, has been the most used for a number of years. The most advanced alternative routes for the direct synthesis of HCN are the JMA, the Fluohmic, and the formamide processes.
