Group-Transfer Polymerization Applications

DuPont chemists have devised an important new type of polymerization termed "group-transfer polymerization." This technique produces living polymers at room temperature. The product is a monodisperse polymer or oligomer that can be functionally modified at near 100% efficiency. We predict that this new technology will make many improved products, including high-solids coatings, powder coatings, radiation-cured coatings, printing inks, waxes and polishes, high-modulus RIM and RRIM polyurethanes, and high performance thermoplastic films and sheets.
