This review examines the economics of producing chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) by a batch aqueous slurry process. The starting material is a high-density polyethylene powder and the product is a nominal low crystallinity general purpose CPE grade used for impact modification of PVC. The process concept is based on information in patents of a number of companies who use this type of process.
