Process Economics Program Report 102
Disposal and Recovery of Waste Organo-Chlorides
Published: July 1976
This report deals with the disposal and recovery of waste organo chlorides generated during the manufacture of chemicals and during certain postmanufacturing operations. Municipal and regional waste disposal are treated briefly in the report.
The descriptor "organo chlorides" denotes compounds containing carbon, chlorine, and possibly other atoms. Hydrogen chloride, a compound lying outside our definition, was included in the study because it is an environmentally significant chlorinated product of many waste disposal processes.
Technical information for the study was obtained from patents, journals, and government reports. In addition, as specified in the text, PEP received a considerable amount of information from companies that have been developing and marketing waste disposal processes.
