Cresols and Cresylic Acids
Published: June 1974
In the coming years, coal gasification will be used for producing synthetic natural gas (SNG). From some of the by-product streams, substantial quantities of cresols can be recovered. Such a recovery process is evaluated in this report.
From m,p-cresol (which is the main product of the recovery process) pure m-cresol can be obtained by extraction. This process is also evaluated. Another process evaluated in this report is the synthesis of m-cresol from isobutylene.
