IHS Chemical World Analysis - Acetyls
In recent years, global acetic acid capacity growth has outstripped demand, leading to a significant decline in global operating rates. This is partly due to the worldwide recession that began in 2008. However, industry patterns have been uneven, with demand declining in industrialized regions just as it has been rising rapidly in most developing economies. China is now both a huge producer and consumer of acetic acid, with its production capacity forecasted to increase fivefold over the next decade. At the same time China has become a net exporter of acetic acid, new capacity has also begun to come on stream in the Middle East. These unprecedented capacity additions will take time to absorb, but in the meantime, are reshaping global trade patterns for acetic acid and its derivatives.
IHS Chemical World Analysis - Acetyls examines historical trends and long term projections for supply/demand, production, capacity, and trade of the global acetyls industry over a 16-year period (five-year history, base year, ten-year forecast).Included with the IHS Chemical World Analysis - Acetyls is 12-month’s access to IHS Chemical’s online capacity and supply/demand databases, with updates to the capacity database as they occur and one update to the supply/demand database. The study’s conclusions, with text and graphs, are provided online; as are the Excel files for the supply/demand flat file and the regional supply/demand graphs.
