The loss of Libyan oil supply last year highlighted the critical question of present and future crude quality, while elsewhere super-heavy and ultralight crude volumes are increasing faster than refinery capacity. To provide a framework for understanding the impact of these developments on the refining sector and on the global oil market more broadly, IHS CERA assesses the changes in the overall quality of crude and condensate volumes worldwide.
