AltaLIS 20K Base Culture

AltaLIS 20K Base Culture features our spatial database product to which other natural resource and land management information can be related. The data is provided through a partnership between IHS and AltaLIS, the agent for Spatial Data Warehouse, Ltd.

The AltaLIS Base Culture database is recognized as one of the best quality databases in terms of accuracy and detail of all culture datasets in Alberta. The 1:20,000 culture file covers natural and manmade surface features utilizing the National Topographic System (NTS) naming convention. The culture file divides a 1:50,000 identifier into quadrants. The database contains surface topographic layers depicting natural and man-made features on the earth's surface, such as hydrography, railways, geo-administrative areas, and townships.

With AltaLIS 20K Base Culture, you can:

• Efficiently perform emergency response plan mapping with the level of detailed culture provided 
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of your area of interest

Key attributes include:

• 2684 completed digital files 
• Hydrography: all natural and man-made hydrographic features greater than 400 meters in length 
• Railways: linework and labels 
• Geo-Administrative: boundaries or text /symbols for features (i.e. County, Municipal District, City, Town, First Nation, Park, Hamlet, Locality) 
• Alberta Township System: includes road allowance and township linework down to the quarter section level
