Enhanced Pipeline 

IHS Enhanced Pipeline Data (formerly SuperPipes) is the most comprehensive and accurate source of trusted Western Canadian pipeline data. All of the enhanced data files are built and maintained by our pipeline data partner Geomatics Data Management (GDM), who has been the only source of superior pipeline data in Canada for over 10 years. GDM maintains the data and provides spatially corrected pipeline files containing pipeline locations that have been taken from public data and adjusted to the surveyed right of ways and to imagery.
In Alberta, the pipeline location data is taken from records that are representative of what is in the area, but lack the spatial accuracy. GDM has moved the pipeline segments to make them compatible with surveyed right of ways, imagery and the correct as-built data, and constantly update this information from its many sources.

In British Columbia, the OGC provides a base representation of pipeline data that historically was not updated regularly. GDM has built on the base OGC data along with historical records, survey plans and operator information to provide a more in-depth look at British Columbia's pipelines.

In Saskatchewan, the regulatory governing body that regulates pipelines does not up-keep the pipeline data. GDM has built the dataset from the ground up, gathering information from various government sources, oil and gas operators and the legal survey community. In effect, the pipeline data found in IHS Enhanced Pipeline Data is the only complete and accurate pipeline file available for Saskatchewan.

The information for the North West Territories and offshore Eastern Canada is gathered from the National Energy Board of Canada and operators. The government files for Manitoba, Montana and North Dakota are used to complete the data set.

Gas Plant and Facility

IHS Gas Plant and Facility Data is provided by partner Geomatics Data Management (GDM), ensuring accurate and real content. The gas plant data is verified and confirmed where possible by gas plant owners and operators, through years of personal contact. As well, GDM maintains all the ERCB historical records of gas plants and has rigorous process for cleaning and removing duplicate records from the data.

The dataset ensures:

• Information is current and field verified on all aspects of the gas plant operations. Direct contact and field visits ensure that the most precise and timely data is available to clients. Facility name, operator, contacts and locations are all verified corrected and confirmed. 
• Up-to-date descriptions of modifications and additions, or reductions in the capacities and processes for all plants are captured. 
• Status of all gas plants such as pending, shut in and abandoned are all actively investigated and updated. 
• The data is now seamless and contiguous between the field capture data and GDM's production data.

As with all GDM partnered datasets, the content's value is in the effort and time spent gathering disparate data from multiple sources and reconciling them into one solid and proven data model.
