Cooling Technology Institute (CTI)

The Cooling Technology Institute (CTI) is a non-profit technical organization that publishes standards, addressing cooling devices that use water as the substrate for cooling. They also embrace other forms of heat transfer equipment when a need arises for the betterment of the industry.

The objective of CTI standards:

• To promote safety of industrial, public and private installations. 
• To provide an authoritative statement on a specific subject. 
• To reduce the economic losses resulting from poor performance. 
• To protect the environment. 
• To provide a specific reference that can be used for discussion, purchase, or other interchange between parties. 
• To provide a source of consensus information and guidance in the field of heat transfer, namely cooling tower and cooling system performance.

CTI publications are used by local, state and national water authorities; utility and water treatment plants; design/construct firms that build cooling towers and manufacturers/suppliers of materials used in cooling towers. They are also used in any location where there is a need for cooling heated water, such as petroleum refineries, nuclear facilities, petrochemical plants and chemical processing plants.

CTI standards users are typically plant engineers, specifying engineers, facility engineers, etc.
