US Healthcare Cost Service
The US Healthcare Cost Service analyzes and forecasts key input costs for US healthcare facilities, including nursing wages, drugs and utilities. Our team of industry experts analyzes current cost patterns, projects future changes in prices and wages, and reports on the economic assumptions underlying the forecasts.

Each quarter, we produce more than 125 health-related price-and-wage forecasts and calculate six composite market basket indexes representing operational and capital costs for hospitals, physicians, nursing homes, and home-health facilities.
For more than 30 years, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has incorporated our US cost forecasts into the prospective Medicare reimbursement rates recommended to Congress.
In addition, IHS Global Insight calculates the update payment for Medicare's Part B program. The outlook for these national market baskets are also used to update reimbursement payments for state Medicaid programs and private insurance plans across the US
