Case Study #1:Hydrocarbon Sector Benchmark Analysis

Challenge: With over 120 countries competing for E&P opportunities in its country, the Greenland Bureau of Minerals and Petroleum needed assistance setting up fiscal terms that would attract foreign investment but capture maximum receipts for the state. 
Solution: IHS Consulting employed a variety of methodologies to determine the top eight competitor countries and compared their fiscal terms using defined criteria to those of Greenland.
Results: As a result of the international benchmarking analysis, IHS recommended fiscal terms for Greenland’s government that guaranteed the maximum government take achievable while providing investors attractive and competitive returns.

Case Study #2:Advertising and Marketing Barbados' Offshore Petroleum Sector

Challenge: The Barbados Ministry of Energy and Environment needed assistance with marketing offshore exploration opportunities, legislating, and regulating the E&P business, capturing subsequent investment opportunities for sustainable development, and preparing a marketing plan.
Solution: IHS Consulting performed a due diligence analysis of Barbados' offshore exploration potential. Challenge: The World Bank contracted IHS Consulting to review the organizational capacity, legal framework and fiscal terms governing Yemen's petroleum sector in anticipation of the country's first offshore licensing round.
Solution: IHS reviewed and reported on Yemen's legal framework, the establishmed law and future role for a national oil company, as well as the licensing system and the government department responsible for negotiations.

Case Study #6: Establishing Health and Safety Guidelines and a Safety Management System for Qatar’s Construction Industry

Challenge: Against a backdrop of poor industrial accident statistics, the Government of Qatar commissioned IHS to produce Health and Safety Guidelines and a Safety Management System for its construction industry.
Solution: During the initial phase, IHS consultants benchmarked Qatar’s current health and safety practices against international norms and prepared a series of recommendations concerning the essential elements of best-in-class national standards. We then drafted the guidelines and standards for all aspects of health and safety as they related to the construction industry in parallel with the development of a comprehensive safety management system.
Results: IHS consultants gave a public presentation of the study results and aligned stakeholders on the chosen guidelines and management system. We included recommendations for training personnel.
