Andrew Ellis

IHS CERA Managing Director

Andrew Ellis, IHS CERA Managing Director of Global Analytics, is an experienced energy economist with over 20 years of consulting, model development and research experience in the European and international energy markets. As head of the IHS CERA Global Analytics Group, Mr. Ellis is responsible for applied energy modeling, including the Global Energy Scenarios projections, the energy-economy-environment outlook models and research on the energy-economy interface.

Prior to its acquisition by IHS in 2008, Mr. Ellis led the Global Insight European energy consulting and retainer services. Previously he was a Partner and Director at the Norwegian consulting firm ECON, where he was Director of Gas Analysis and Director for Business Development (Energy).

His expertise includes European energy demand, supply and pricing models; Asian gas demand, new investments and power generation dispatch models; and modeling oil, gas and power projects in international markets such as Kazakhstan, Namibia, Uganda, Bangladesh, South Africa and Mozambique. He also led scenario analysis on a number of projects, developing client-specific and multiclient scenarios examining the European gas and power markets.

Mr. Ellis holds a BA (Honors) from Nottingham University, United Kingdom, and an MS from Imperial College, London.

Shankari Srinivasan

IHS CERA Managing Director Europe, Global Gas

Shankari Srinivasan, IHS CERA Managing Director Europe, Global Gas, is part of IHS CERA Senior Leadership Team. In addition to her management responsibilities Ms. Srinivasan is also head of IHS CERA European gas research and is responsible for the development of IHS CERA European gas analysis and its communication to clients. Ms. Srinivasan has also worked on numerous tailored consulting assignments for clients, including major gas producers, European utilities, and financial investors.

She has extensive experience in providing strategic analysis and recommendations at the board and senior executive level. Before joining IHS CERA Ms. Srinivasan was Head of Gas Fundamentals at Centrica Energy. She is the author of numerous IHS CERA reports, including analyses of business models, supplier strategy, and short-term and long-term fundamentals. She was a primary contributor to the IHS CERA Special Report Securing the Future: Making Gas Interdependence Work.

Ms. Srinivasan holds a BA from Brown University, an MSc from the University of Pennsylvania, an MSc from New York University, and an executive MBA from the Cranfield School of Management.

Catherine Robinson

IHS CERA Director, Global Gas

Catherine Robinson, IHS CERA Director of Global Gas, is an expert in the European gas markets, regularly contributing to IHS CERA advisory service research. She has also worked on numerous tailored consulting assignments for clients, including international oil companies and European utilities. Ms. Robinson specializes in hedging and risk management and has expertise in market and credit risk management for trading organizations. Before joining IHS CERA, Ms. Robinson worked for Centrica, most recently as Gas Hedging Strategy manager. She also worked in Centrica’s risk management department, looking at market and credit risk in the United Kingdom, and for Centrica’s overseas businesses. Prior to Centrica, Ms. Robinson worked for HSBC’s Capital Market’s division. She is the author of numerous IHS CERA reports, including analyses of the future of oil indexation in Europe, the role of gas in the power generation sector, and short- and long-term energy market fundamentals. She was a primary contributor to the IHS CERA Multiclient Study, Strategies for a Leaner Europe: Meeting the Energy Efficiency Challenge. 

She holds a BS and an MS from the University of Glasgow and an MS from the University of London.

Fabien Roques

IHS CERA Senior Director

Fabien Roques, IHS CERA Director, European Power, leads the IHS CERA research on European power and carbon dioxide (CO2) markets. His expertise includes market design and regulation, restructuring, and valuation work for corporate and government clients.

Mr. Roques has particular expertise in using quantitative models to analyze strategic decisions such as investment under uncertainty. He has worked on numerous tailored consulting assignments for clients, including major European utilities, financial investors, and European regulators. Before joining IHS CERA Mr. Roques was with the International Energy Agency, where he contributed to a range of studies including the World Energy Outlook energy and CO2 emission scenarios. Previously as an independent consultant and a researcher at the Cambridge University Electricity Policy Research Group, he worked on a range of projects related to market design, investment valuation, and portfolio optimization in European power markets.

Mr. Roques holds an MSc from the Ecole Centrale Lyon and an MPhil and PhD from the University of Cambridge.

Federico Ferrario

Olivier Abadie

IHS CERA Director Research Europe/CIS/Africa

Olivier Abadie, IHS CERA Director for Downstream Europe, has 28 years of international experience in refining, trading, supply-demand analysis, and business development. Based in Paris, Mr. Abadie focuses on short- and long-term analysis of crude oil and refined products markets, transportation, and refinery investment. His expertise covers analysis of economic conditions, global oil demand and supply trends, their influence on oil and product prices and the implied strategic challenges.

He works closely with IHS CERA clients to assess how market, regulatory, economic and political risks could modify their competitive environment. He contributes to the IHS CERA World Refined Products Outlook and IHS CERA World Oil Watch through his analysis of Western European markets. His recent research includes analysis of Middle East refining capacity, the challenges of the changing liquid refining supply and European refining capacity, among other issues.

Prior to joining IHS CERA, Mr. Abadie was Trading Manager with Perenco, in charge of optimizing crude and gas export and sales in Europe, Africa and Latin America. Previously with ELF he was International Aviation Development manager and first director of the company’s crude/products trading office in Moscow and held operational jobs in crude and products trading. He also held positions in Mobil refining, supply and retail in France.

Mr. Abadie teaches or has taught on oil markets in Sciences-Po and Ecole Nationale des Mines de Paris and holds MS degrees from the top level French Grandes Ecoles, Polytechnique and Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées.

David Price

IHS CERA Senior Director

David Price, IHS CERA Senior Director, is the head of IHS CERA Global Steam Coal Advisory Service. He is also editor of IHS McCloskey’s Steam Coal Forecaster and Coal UK. Mr. Price leads the IHS team on coal during the development of the group’s global energy scenarios. He has been the author and lead editor of many special reports on the coal industry, covering global and regional supply and demand; fuel supply chain analysis for power generators, industry, and investors; contractual frameworks; and environmental considerations. Mr. Price, who has been with McCloskey for close to 20 years, has been the editor of Coal UK since 1992 and of Steam Coal Forecaster since 1996. McCloskey was acquired by IHS at the end of 2007.

Dan Clay

IHS CERA Director, European Gas, Power, and Renewables

Dan Clay, IHS CERA Director of European Gas, Power and Renewables, is an expert in market modeling for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific regions. With more than 15 years of modeling and energy experience, Mr. Clay specializes in fundamentals analysis, price outlooks and energy risk management and in developing corporate strategies for the broad range of energy markets. At IHS he works across functions and regions, with responsibilities for integrated gas and power modeling, a variety of consulting projects, and research on multiple energy markets. 

Prior to joining IHS, Mr. Clay held a number of posts at Centrica plc in trading and strategy, including Head of Power, Coal and Carbon Fundamentals for Centrica Energy, and Head of Hedging for British Gas Business. Previously he was a bandwidth trading and risk management consultant for cable and wireless, and was with BG plc with responsibilities for strategy and UK energy. Earlier with Eastern Energy (now part of E.ON Energie AG) his focus was energy trading. 

Mr. Clay holds a BS (Hons.) from Keele University, United Kingdom.

Michael Chettrit

IHS CERA Research Associate

Michael Chettrit, IHS CERA Research Associate with the European Gas and Power team, focuses on modeling and strategic analysis. His expertise includes gas price outlooks, gas market liquidity, power plants flexibility, and renewable intermittency. Prior to joining IHS CERA, he held positions in an oil and gas company and a renewable research institute. 

Mr. Chettrit holds an engineering degree from University Paris-Sud and a Master’s degree from University Paris Dauphine.
