Monthly Gas Briefing: Probing the Coal Floor

New information indicates that current production levels are higher than previously thought, but gas-directed drilling activity has started to decline quickly. In the meantime, coal displacement in the power generating sector is expected to remain robust throughout 2012. This reduces the potential need for production shut-ins or delayed tie-ins come October but will keep prices under $3 per million Btu until the injection season resumes in April.
