Chris G. Christopher, Director of Global and US Consumer Markets for IHS Global Insight, is responsible for consumer-driven aspects of the global and US economy. He tracks and forecasts US personal consumption expenditures, retail sales and consumer confidence indices. In addition, he directs and provides leadership for the Global Consumer Markets service, which provides income distribution, detailed consumer expenditures and demographic analysis and forecasts for over 90 countries.
Mr. Christopher has over 20 years of professional experience as an economist and econometrician. Prior to joining IHS, Christopher has worked for FedEx Forecasting Department, O.I.T., Regional Economic Models Inc. (REMI), New York Legislative Tax Study Commission and several colleges. Christopher has taught various undergraduate and graduate courses in economics and business.
He has a PhD in economics from the University at Albany with concentrations in Game Theory, Econometrics, Industrial Organization, and Computable General Equilibrium Models. He has several academic publications and has written articles and opinion pieces for the mass media and trade journals.
