Maritime piracy is reaching unprecedented levels, with 142 attacks reported worldwide in the first three months of 2011 – up 67 on the same period in 2010. Unsurprisingly, Somalia piracy accounted for 97 of the attacks so far this year.
This Jane's Intelligence Centre Online Seminar will address the growing complexity and scale of the maritime piracy problem, examining the current situation, exploring naval and shipping strategies for combating the problem, and outlining the increasing risk of on-shore terrorist interests in piracy.
