Navigating the Emerging Markets: Republic of Turkey

Jane’s Intelligence Centre is hosting the Navigating the Emerging Markets: Republic of Turkey Webinar on October 6, 2011

The Turkish defence market is forecast by Jane’s to grow significantly over the coming five years, with military procurement spending on course to rise 22 per cent to US$9 billion by 2015.

A combination of continued strategic challenges, the obligations of NATO membership, and an on-going requirement to recapitalise inventories have provided the impetus for growth over the coming years, while expectations of buoyant economic growth will put Turkey in a sound position to meet its aspirations.

Turkey presents both opportunities and challenges to market entrants, however. Offset rules have undergone radical reform while local industrial involvement demands continue to place a heavy burden on foreign contactors.

The Turkish market is open with broad opportunities, but competition over the coming five years will be intense.

This IHS Jane’s report tackles the obstacles to success in the Turkish market; offset practices; international relationships; spending forecasts; procurement strategies; and defence industrial intelligence.
