John C. Harris, IHS CERA Director, provides coverage of the Asia Pacific gas markets and is an expert on liquefied natural gas (LNG). He has authored and co-authored a number of reports on the Global LNG markets. He took a lead role in the coordination of the global gas message within the Multiclient Study IHS CERA Energy Scenarios to 2030 and a similar role in Feeding the Dragon: China's Energy Future.
John has worked extensively in Asia and the Middle East, undertaking due diligence and investment appraisal in the energy sector for both governments and private enterprises. His project work includes several major studies of China's natural gas market at the regional and provincial levels. He also recently advised a power utility on a potential LNG procurement. Mr. Harris was an external advisor to the International Gas Union; and a contributor to a report on the North Asian gas markets which was published at the World Gas Conference in Kuala Lumpur in June 2012.
A contributor to IHS CERA's Global LNG Advisory Service, he also provides analysis on a range of energy-related issues in support of IHS CERA's clients and presents at both private and key public industry forums (e.g. APPEA, Gastech, WGC, Gasex, ASCOPE).
Prior to joining IHS CERA Mr. Harris spent over a decade with Drewry Shipping Consultants, becoming a director of the company in 1997 and ultimately assuming responsibility for the Shipping Strategy Group. Earlier Mr. Harris worked as a London-based commodity analyst for part of the Noranda Group. Mr. Harris was based in IHS CERA's Beijing office during 2005–11, prior to relocating to the Perth office in Australia. He holds a BSc from the University of Birmingham and an MBA from the United Kingdom's Open University. He holds a BSc from the University of Birmingham and an MBA from the United Kingdom's Open University.
