Stephen has spent the majority of his career with IHS and its predecessors, having joined the company in 1981. Stephen is responsible for specific IHS CERA products, including the new Tight Oil multi-client study. He is an expert on U.S. current oil and gas activity with a special focus on unconventional resources.
Trammel is a regular speaker and writer on a variety of industry topics, having begun his oil and gas industry career as a scout and writer covering Rocky Mountain activity for Petroleum Information (now IHS).
Stephen continues to focus on the Gulf of Mexico and on the increasingly important role unconventionals play in the world’s oil and gas supply picture. Other experience includes working in partnership with Houston-based PetroSolutions Ltd., when Trammel launched the ground-breaking production performance analogs series for the deepwater and deep shelf plays in the Gulf of Mexico beginning in 2002. Previously, he also had responsibility for managing well data accumulation, current activity products and editorial content in the U.S.
Stephen was recently chosen to participate in the Expert Source Program for IHS, which delivers strategic thought leadership to the oil and gas industry in the form of insight and analysis.
He studied English literature and art at the University of Colorado, and English and geology at Texas Tech University, receiving the highest honors for his studies.

Ken Fung, IHS CERA Director of North American Natural Gas - is an expert in North American natural gas markets. His expertise includes natural gas and natural gas liquids, with a focus on issues related to prices, pipeline flows, midstream development, and regional policy changes that may affect the market. Mr. Fung has over 12 years of oil and gas industry experience. Before joining IHS CERA he was a Senior Analyst at BP in its North American Gas and LNG business units, where he specialized commercial development, risk analysis, strategic planning, and project management.
Andrew Byrne is director of energy equity research at IHS, where he is a manager of the Global E&P team and covers a diverse group of E&P companies.
Prior to joining IHS, he was a financial analyst for Value Line Publishing, focusing on the energy and mining sectors. He also has eight years of experience in the Canadian oil patch as a petroleum exploration geologist. Byrne graduated with a bachelor’s degree in geology from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pa.
He holds the Charter Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a member of the CFA Institute, Petroleum Analysts of Boston, and the Boston Security Analyst Society. Previously, he served on the board of directors of a small E&P company in Canada.
