CANSO ATM Dinner & Jane’s ATC Awards 2012

The industry’s social event of the year hosted by CANSO and IHS Jane’s was held on the 5 March at the NH Grand Krasnapolsky Hotel in Amsterdam.

The gathering of key industry figures celebrated the best ATM achievements over the past year during the Jane’s ATC Awards ceremony.

We would like to thank the panel of judges, which include representatives from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), Eurocontrol, CANSO, the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the International Federation of Air Traffic Controllers (IFATCA) and IHS Jane’s for helping to select the final winners.

The awards are an opportunity to celebrate the technical developments, product innovation, safety and efficiency initiatives that result in real savings for airspace users. We hope you will learn more about these projects and follow their progress as they are deployed.

Following the success of this event, we are pleased to announce that CANSO and IHS Jane’s will once again join forces at the CANSO World ATM Congress in February 2013.

Operational Efficiency
- Airports Authority of India - Indian upper airspace harmonisation programme
  
  The Airports Authority of India received the Operational Efficiency Award from
  Ben Vogel, editor of Jane’s Airport Review (right) and Jenny Beechener, editor of
  Jane’s Air Traffic Control (left), for its work on upper airspace harmonisation.
Environment
- NATS - 3Di environmental performance metric
  
  UK air navigation service provider NATS picked up the Environment Award for
  its 3Di environmental performance metric.
Enabling Technology
- MUAC, Airbus, Noracon - Initial 4D trajectory management operations
  
  The Enabling Technology category was won by the Maastricht Upper Area Control
  Centre, Noracon and Airbus for their work on Initial 4D trajectory management operations.
Service Provision
- Airways New Zealand - emergency response to earthquakes and ash
  
  Its management of three natural disasters in 2010-11 earned Airways New
  Zealand the Service Provision Award.
Innovation
- ATRiCS - SMAN automated routing and guidance system
  
  ATRiCS won in the Innovation category for the SMAN automated routing and
  guidance system.
Industry
- Northrop Grumman Airport Systems - Airport Realtime Collaboration suite
  
  The Industry Award went to Northrop Grumman Airport Systems for
  the Airport Realtime Collaboration suite of IT systems and professional
  services.
European ATM
- Eurocontrol - ATS Route Network Version 7 project
  
  Early work on implementing the European ATS Route Network Version 7
  earned Eurocontrol the Contribution to European ATM Award.
